Lakeside shuts out Westside

Lakeside remained in contention for the Region 3-AAAA title by beating Westside 40-0 on Friday.

The Panthers rolled up 393 yards of total offense, including a 53-yard touchdown pass from Justin Pitock to Corey Jones on a second quarter trick play.

Lakeside's Mark Weidenaar scored on a throw for a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass and rushed for another score for the Panthers, who improved to 6-1 in region play, tied with Evans and Hephzibah with two games remaining.

Lakeside plays host to winless Butler on Friday for homecoming.

MLK 35, Greenbrier 0

Mack Brown accounted for more than 100 yards of offense as Martin Luther King High shut out Greenbrier in a Region 2-AAAAA game.

Brown, who has verbally committed to play for Florida, rushed for 56 yards. He had one reception, a 56-yard touchdown catch, for the winners, who are now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Greenbrier was limited to 12 yards of total offense and turned the ball over three times. The Wolfpack fell to 2-6 and 1-4 in region play. Will Price caught two passes for 23 yards.

Augusta Christian 20, Pinewood Prep 14

Cole Turner rushed for 176 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown run, as the Lions held on to beat Pinewood Prep.

Augusta Christian's Christian Croft and Tyler Roberson also had rushing touchdowns for the Lions, who improved to 5-4. Augusta Christian plays host to region rival Hammond on Friday.
