The second annual Columbus Day Festival on Saturday will provide guests with a wide assortment of entertainment and activities.
"It's a fun event," said Columbia County Community Events Manager Stacie Adkins. "There's enough to keep the children occupied, (and) there's vendors for adults."
The event, which replaces the county's Renaissance Festival, will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Columbia County Amphitheater and Memorial Gardens behind the Columbia County Library in Evans.
The local celebration of the event celebrates explorer Christopher Columbus, for whom Columbia County is believed to be named.
Arts and crafts vendors will set up booths to offer items including floral arrangements, jewelry and wood work products.
A petting zoo, monster mural, face painting and inflatable activities are planned for children.
The Evans Middle School band will perform at 11 a.m. with area magician Chad Crews taking the stage at noon. Belly dancers will also perform a routine at the event.
"There's a variety of entertainment," Adkins said.
The Italian-American Club of the CSRA will provide food, which will include meatball and sausage sandwiches, pizza and homemade desserts.
Last year, Adkins said that about 2,000 people attended the event throughout the day.
"I see this festival just growing," she said. "Each year, it'll get bigger and bigger."
The event is free to attend.
"As long as we have pretty weather, it's going to be a fun day," she said.
